2020 CHS Virtual Holiday Concert
CHS ILMEA All-State musician
Last month we had 3 students who were selected for the ILMEA District 6 Honor Bands. However, due to COVID-19, that experience was moved to a virtual format in which they participated in virtual masterclasses. And now we would like to congratulate Elijah H. Buerk for continuing and making the ILMEA All-State Band. Elijah was selected as the top pianist in District 6 and will now represent CHS at the All-State level. An ILMEA All-State Student Experience in Peoria is tentatively planned for May, and will be decided by February. But we would like to congratulate Elijah for this outstanding achievement!
The ILMEA Student Programs have been developed to encourage musical performance and creative expression and the many forms that may take for student musicians. Ensembles include symphonic orchestras, wind bands, choral ensembles, jazz bands and combos, and vocal jazz ensembles. The students named into these ensembles represent the best and brightest student musicians and the high-quality music education provided by music educators across Illinois. |
CHS ILMEA District VI Participants
The ILMEA District 6 festival looked a little different this year as it was moved to a virtual platform. Students who are selected for the ILMEA District Honor Ensembles go through an audition process to perform with other students in our district. Due to the current situation, these students are attending clinics in their instrumental area led by professional musicians as their clinician.
We would like to recognize 3 of our students who were selected for ILMEA.
Reed Mays - Jazz Band, drum set
Connor Lorence - Concert Band, tuba
Elijah Buerk - Concert Band, piano
Elijah was also selected as the top pianist in District 6.
